Simon Sheikh
Founder & Managing Director

Simon understands the power of Australians coming together to create change. In his 5 years as National Director for GetUp!, Australia’s leading progressive advocacy group, Simon tripled the organisation’s membership to 640,000. Simon also sat on the inaugural board of the now 100,000 strong Australian Youth Climate Coalition, and was named NSW Young Professional of the Year. In addition to leading large organisations working for progressive change, Simon has worked as a Financial Analyst at NSW Treasury and consulted for organisations as diverse as Bendigo Bank, Asset Owners Disclosure Project, major unions and community groups.

Adam Verwey
Founder & Executive Director

Adam has a long history in ethical investment, with an expertise in superannuation, ESG (environmental, social and governance) research and constructing ethical sharemarket indices. He leads the ethical investment team at Future Super and is a member of the Investment Committee. Prior to founding Future Super, Adam had spent almost 10 years at Australian Ethical Investment as a senior manager in business development and marketing. He is a director at the Australasian Centre for Corporate Responsibility, an organisation dedicated to shareholder advocacy and engagement. Adam is also portfolio manager for the Thomson Reuters Australian Fossil Fuel Free Index, and a member of the Responsible Investment Committee for the Betashares Global Sustainability Leaders ETF and Betashares Australian Sustainability Leaders ETF.

Kirstin Hunter
Managing Director

Kirstin joined Future Super in 2017 as Chief Operations Officer. In 2018 she was appointed to the Future Super board as Managing Director. Kirstin came to us from Bain & Company where she specialised in financial services strategy and operations in Australia and Canada. She is the chair of the Youth Food Movement Australia, founded Aussie Babywearers for Refugees, and previously worked as a lawyer at Freehills where she got her first taste of clean energy project finance.

Christina Hobbs
Non-Executive Director

Christina Hobbs is a former Management Consultant with expertise in the financial services industry. She has worked for over ten years as an economic and humanitarian advisor to the United Nations and is a former Deputy Manager of WWF's Earth Hour. Christina is passionate about the economic empowerment of women and is a former Board Director of the Global Women's Project, a co-founder of Young-UN Women and is a published author on gender equality.

Dan East
Chief Investment Officer
Dan has over 30 years of experience in financial markets, including equities, money markets, currencies, fixed interest and derivatives. Coming from a commercial banking environment specialising in financial products and risk control, Dan has been the Investment Manager and CEO of boutique investment fund, Grosvenor Pirie, since 2002. Between 1985-1994 Dan worked with Banque Indosuez in Sydney and Paris. He was primarily involved in the proprietary trading of derivatives, interest rate futures and currencies in the Australian, American and Asian markets. In 1995, Dan joined the Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank Limited (now Mizuho Corporate Bank) in Sydney, where he worked as Chief Trader then Treasurer, focusing on the development of the treasury business and established the bank’s Risk Control Department.
Andrew Sellen
Chief Marketing Officer

Andrew joined Future Super in early 2017 having previously held senior marketing roles at Australian Ethical Investment and REST Superannuation. Leading the marketing team at Australian Ethical, Andrew helped double funds under management to over $1.4 billion in 3 years. Andrew also has a long history of social and environmental advocacy, and started his marketing career at Opportunity International - a global microfinance organisation that has helped over 9 million families work their way out of poverty.

James Thier
Board Director & Investment Committee Member

James is a pioneer of ethical investment in Australia. He was a co-founder of Australian Ethical Investment and Superannuation, serving as an Executive Director from 1991 to 2011. James also was a founder and inaugural board member of the Responsible Investment Association of Australasia (formerly the Ethical Investment Association). James previously held senior positions in local government and within peak bodies of the credit union movement and taught at the University of NSW in several schools. In 2007 James was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to study shareholder advocacy mechanisms in the United States and Europe, in particular resolutions proposed at annual general meetings.

Mark Woodall
Chair of Future Investments

Mr. Woodall has been a leader in the development and financing of renewable energy and clean technologies for nearly 25 years.  He founded and led two specialist investment banking firms focused on the low carbon economy: Impax Capital (1994) and Climate Change Capital (2002).  He has been the adviser, investor or principal in over 90 cleantech transactions with total capital deployed of over US $4.5 billion.  Mark has an MBA (Dean’s List) from Cranfield University and was an officer in the British Army. He currently also serves on the board of Carnegie Clean Energy (ASX: CCE) and GreenSync Holdings Pty Ltd.
